Akeso Ireland welcomes three senior leaders as our presence across Ireland and Northern Ireland continues to grow
Two months after announcing the launch of Akeso Ireland, we are pleased to introduce three distinguished colleagues who have now joined our expanding team. Their collective experience from senior roles across health and social care will support our work with partners across Ireland and Northern Ireland.
Tony McNamara
Associate Director
Tony brings extensive experience from senior leadership roles within the Irish health service. He served as Chief Executive of Cork University Hospital for almost three decades, where he guided major service development, along with significant capital and organisational programmes. Tony has also contributed to national policy through appointments to state boards, including the Road Safety Authority, the Health Insurance Authority, and the Health Information and Quality Authority. His insight into strategic leadership and service change will support our work with organisations across Ireland.
John Swords
Executive Advisor
John joins Akeso following his senior national role as National Director of Procurement at the Health Service Executive. In this position, he led major programmes to strengthen sourcing, logistics, and supply chain services across hospitals and community care. John also supported national finance reform, and played a leading role in advancing green procurement and environmental sustainability within the health service. He has chaired the cross border Cooperation and Working Together procurement group, and has contributed to national reform through membership of the Office of Government Procurement Reform Board, and the GS1 Ireland Board. His understanding of national systems, and large scale improvement, will be of great value to our partners.
John Compton
Executive Advisor
John brings more than thirty years of senior experience across health and social care in Northern Ireland. He served as Chief Executive of the Northern Ireland Health and Social Care Board, where he oversaw the planning and commissioning of hospital, community, and social care services. John has led significant programmes of reform, including work on integrated care and service redesign, and has continued to advise organisations on complex transformation since completing his executive roles. His deep understanding of strategic health leadership, and system wide change, will strengthen our ability to support partners across Northern Ireland.
Supporting health and care across Ireland and Northern Ireland
The addition of Tony, John, and John strengthens the foundations of Akeso Ireland, and enhances our ability to provide locally grounded consulting and analytics support. As we continue to expand our presence across Ireland and the United Kingdom, their experience reinforces our commitment to supporting meaningful improvement for patients and communities.
