Senior Data Scientist – 12 Months Maternity Cover

Akeso is a leading consultancy specialising in health and care, MedTech, and life sciences. We are looking for seasoned Consultative Senior Data Scientist to join our high-performing team and leverage advanced analytics techniques to extract insights from complex datasets, driving strategic initiatives and delivering actionable recommendations, in a way that can be understood by all.


About this Opportunity

The day-to-day role of a Senior Data Scientist will largely involve:

  • Understand how deliver a project using a Scrum agile methodology, and be able to be scrum master when required
  • Providing expert advice and upskilling others on statistical methods, healthcare data, data science products, data manipulation, and dashboarding products
  • Contributing to the firm’s compliance with regulatory standards
  • Scoping, planning, and executing projects with blended teams within the constraints of time and resources
  • Developing new data-driven solutions and approaches to support new commercial solutions and project proposals
  • Creating clear, insightful and engaging visualisations (PowerPoint, Excel, BI tools) to communicate findings to stakeholders, clients, and colleagues
  • Maintaining the firm’s data and code repositories, and managing any automated processes
  • Maintaining strong relationships with clients and Consultant colleagues
  • Staying up-to-date on the latest advancements in both Data Science and Healthcare analytics domains, including seeking out training for continuing professional development
  • Writing, coordinating and managing responses to open tender bids for analytics work
  • Writing and reviewing Python, R and SQL code.

Knowledge & Skills


  • Demonstrate knowledge of the healthcare industry with the ability to articulate the opportunities and challenges of this sector
  • Ability to facilitate stakeholder engagement and help formulate an appropriate approach that is suitable for the needs of the stakeholder
  • Demonstrate expertise in managing small projects, or workstreams by planning, organising and controlling the activities required to achieve project objectives
  • Ability to propose commercial solutions and to explore new areas of business
  • Demonstrate mastery in Python programming for data cleaning, wrangling, analysis, and modelling, as well as interpretation, debugging and versioning control of code repositories


  • Proficiency in applying AI and ML models to solve problems and familiarity with various tools and frameworks commonly used
  • Proficiency in forecasting algorithms, especially in the context of demand and capacity modelling and optimisation




  • 2nd class degree in a STEM subject


  • MSc and above degree in a STEM subject
  • Certification in any of the following: Scrum Agile, Azure and other




  • 4 to 6 years in a Data Science role
  • 1+ years involving leadership or people management responsibilities


  • Prior experience in the Consultancy and/or Healthcare industry
